  • Mario E. Santana Quintero
    Coordinator

    Born in Caracas (Venezuela). He completed studies of architecture in 1994 at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. In 2003 he obtained a PhD with a dissertation entitled ?The use of three-dimensional documentation and dissemination techniques in studying built heritage? 1997at the R. Lemaire International Centre for Conservation (K.U. Leuven). Besides his research experience, he has been responsible for the Integration of digital documentation Techniques in the module IPW of the Master in conservation of historic buildings and towns (R. Lemaire Centre for Conservation). Furthermore, he has been working since 1997 as architectural documentation consultant for UNESCO, The World Heritage Centre, World Monuments Fund, Getty Conservation Institute, UNDP, K.U. Leuven, ICCROM, KaHo St Lievne, and the University of Aachen RWTH in different international projects in Belgium, Germany, the Sultanate of Oman, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Afghanistan, India, Kazakhstan, Egypt and Syria.

  • Alonzo (Lon) C. Addison
    Advisor

    Advisor to the Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre: Born in California. A collaborator with the Centre for many years, Lon was asked by the Director in early 2003 to assemble and lead a team to renovate and enhance the Centre?s information technology and internet strategy. Trained in engineering, architecture, and computer graphics, his interests span design simulation to immersive historic visualization, and collaborative networks. In addition to advising the Centre, he is Director of the Center for Design Visualization at the University of California at Berkeley and a consultant to a variety of emerging high tech startups. As Vice President of Cyra Technologies, Inc. (a venture-backed 3D laser scanning and visualization startup) for example, he helped lead strategy for the world's first high-accuracy, large-object 3D reality capture system--a device capable of generating precision surveys of everything from landscapes to monuments. A frequent speaker and writer on heritage technology, he was a co-founder and serves as current President of the Virtual Heritage Network. He holds an M. Arch. degree from Berkeley, and a B.S.E. cum laude from Princeton University.
